London Heathrow Airport marked its busiest September ever, welcoming nearly 7.4 million passengers and wrapping up a record-breaking summer season.
Despite the cyberattack on Collins Aerospace IT systems that affected several European airports, Heathrow maintained excellent performance. It continued its streak as the world’s most connected airport for the third year in a row.
Security remained efficient, with 95% of passengers clearing checks within five minutes. The airport also played a vital economic role, driving over £215 billion in trade last year and connecting UK businesses with global markets.
Heathrow CEO Thomas Woldbye said, “This summer was one to celebrate. Running Europe’s largest airport comes with challenges, but our team delivered outstanding performance in punctuality, security, and connectivity while serving nearly 7.4 million passengers in September.”
