What is the right age to enroll kids into Vedic Maths Training course?

To get the maximum benefit of any course (be it education or sports or music), it is crucial to enroll at the right age. Let’s look at some of the key pointers which should help you decide the right age to enroll kids into Vedic Maths classes.

  • Age of 11+ years – By this time the child is usually in 6th grade in school and has a clear understanding of arithmetic concepts and some common functions like what are squares and square roots, cube and cube roots etc. Hence he is able to relate to these tricks in Vedic Maths
  • When the child is in High school or in College and preparing for Competitive exams – Do not worry if the child has not learnt Vedic Maths during  his junior school years. As he enters high school or college, he will most probably come face to face with various competitive exams, and this is also the perfect age and time to enroll into Vedic Maths classes. Simply because in competitive exams every second and every minute is important, and Vedic Maths provides a unique advantage of time saving up to 30-40% even if the student only uses the simple Vedic Maths tricks just for basic arithmetic calculations in the exam. To put it in words, in a 1 hour exam at least 15 minutes can be easily saved in arithmetic calculations if the child has a good hold on some basic Vedic Maths tricks.

In which age should we not enroll kids into Vedic Maths Training courses?

Mathcruise tutor Meenu Gupta (from where my son learnt Vedic Maths tricks) gives a very clear answer to this question, that it is usually not recommended for kids below 11 years to go for Vedic Maths course.

  • Reason is that those kids are too young and they do not even understand the clear meaning of addition, subtraction, square root etc since they have not covered those topics in schools by then. As a result when the alternate short cut Vedic Maths tricks are taught to them, they will not be able to do the comparison in terms of time saving b/w Vedic Maths method and when the same question is solved by conventional school method.
  • Just bear in mind that only when the kid is able to compare the actual time consumed in two approaches (Vedic Maths vs Conventional Maths) himself, he will realize the benefit and this will generate interest in him to learn Vedic Maths tricks.

But should we go for Offline or Online Vedic Maths Training Course?

If you ask me this question, my answer is very clear – Go Online.

And then if subsequent question comes into your mind that ‘Why Online, my point of view is that in today’s world of internet, we will lose out badly if we do not make use of online options which helps us save precious travel time and at the same time allows to choose the best tutors available across the world, instead of getting limited to just a few options if we go for physical classes. Imagine that while sitting in Delhi, you can get the Vedic Maths classes from the best tutor in Bangalore or USA or Australia. Why would you want to lose out on this amazing benefit of online classes? I don’t see any reason compelling enough to go for offline classes. Do post what you think as a parent on this interesting topic.
